Well my family after a long holiday break it is time once again the pass along :"Words From The Ridge". Where to start..
Christmas was simple amazing. Having everyone here was so much fun. Of course the biggest news at Christmas was that Mindy and Garrett were going to have a baby. This was noted by me as Mindy did not partake in any Bourbon Slush. A sure sign that something is up.
January proved a very mild month for us northerners. The highlight of January was that Garrett turned 30! Can my children really be getting that old?
Now the highlight for Ivan's January is that his Patriots made it to the Super Bowl. The fact that they would be coming to Indy was almost more than he could stand. Noted by the fact that he was waiting in their hotel lobby on arrival day to see which players he could see. Wearing his Patriots shirt of course. Mackenzie, Ivan, Steve and I did go to Super Bowl village to see what it was all about. It was Awesome...

February has been a very busy month. Steve and I have just returned from our first time every two week vacation. We traveled over 3,260 miles to and through the state of Texas. First stop was Dallas. Greeted by an adorable little Hattibelle.
She loves doing hair...except for grandpa..he did not have enough!
Then it is on to San Antonio and then McAllen to see Tim and Nora. Great time with them...lots of very late time drinking and talking. We did find out that Mia (Nora's daughter) is pregnant and due in June. She is going to have a little boy.
We then went to Padre Island for a couple of days and enjoyed walking the beach and drinking margaritas. I decided to do a margaritas study to see which location had the best. The winner is the Mango margaritas at Joe's Crab Shack on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. What one will do for the sake of research.
After Padre Island we headed to Corpus Cristi for a night and then to College Station to visit Taylor. We had lunch with her and got a tour of Texas A & M. She is doing so well and we so enjoyed her. She has changed her major from engineer to teaching....math and science. Great choice for her.
We then headed back to Dallas for another quick visit with Mindy, Garrett and Hattie and to finish up the new kitchen floor project. Steve and Garrett started it when we were down there at the beginning of our vacation. Pulled up the old floor and put down a tile laminate floor. It looks wonderful and they did a great job.
Hattie leading everyone in the "floor finished" dance
Now when we returned to Dallas we were greeted by Hattie carrying pictures and yelling "It's a boy..It's a boy". Mindy and Garrett had just gotten back from getting the sonogram and we were there to hear the good news. Little boy Smith will be born in mid July.
The glowing mommy-to-be
I do have to take a minute to remind everyone of the best news during the month of February. It would be the call we received that Ivan had gotten into Medical School. That was the most glorious news of all. It is such an exciting time for the Lupov's and Ivan will just be an amazing doctor. We just can't begin to say how proud of him we are.
We return home on Saturday Feb. 25th. The day that my oldest son turned 33 years old. My goodness Brandon but you are getting old!! If anyone cares 33 years ago on Feb 25 there was a terrible blizzard in Indiana.
Today is Sunday Feb 26th and it to is a very special day. We drove to Indianapolis to see our beautiful granddaughter Eve get baptized. She did a very good job and was a perfect little angel. Her mommy, daddy and big brother were there to help her.
Eve's baptism
Tomorrow we start back to work after a wonderful trip and connecting with so much family. We hope to continue to travel and see each of you and your families where ever that may be. You are all so special to Steve and I and you have no idea how much joy you bring us. We are bless.
Must close with one more picture of Garrett and Mindy. I bought them matching Texas Longhorn pants.
So Cute!!
